Last year at the EICMA 2017, Lambretta made a comeback by showcasing three scooters after a hiatus of 20 years. The company is now set to launch the Lambretta scooters in the Australian market on 25 August 2018.
Lambretta Australia’s official Facebook page reveals that the company is holding an event on 25 August in Perth, Western Australia. The company showcased the Lambretta V50, V125, and V200 Special at the 2017 EICMA show, and the company is expected to launch these scooters in the Australian market. In November 2017, a report suggested that the company is considering to introduce Lambretta scooters in India in 2019.
The new Lambretta scooters are available with three engine options across two trims and six variants. The three two-wheelers are Lambretta V50, V125, and the V200 along with the Special versions of each. The ‘V’ and ‘V Special’ models are differentiated by the mudguards, while rest of the body and design remain identical. While the V models get ‘flex fenders,’ the V Special versions features ‘fixed fenders,’ a signature of the Lambretta design language.
The Lambretta scooters are manufactured in Taiwan and distributed to the various global markets. As for India, the company is reportedly contemplating on setting up a manufacturing facility or an assembly plant to keep the costs low. The Lambretta brand is resurrected by a joint venture between Lambretta Consortium (Innocenti SA) and the Austrian KSR Group GmbH.
The Lambretta V50 sources power from a 49.5 cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 3.5 bhp of maximum power and 3.4 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the Lambretta V125 employs a 124.7 cc, single cylinder engine that generates 10 bhp of maximum power and 9.20 Nm of peak torque. The Lambretta V200 use a 168.9 cc, single-cylinder, fuel injected engine that is tuned to produce 12.1 PS of maximum power and 12.5 Nm of peak torque. All three Euro 4 compliant engines pair to a belt-driven CVT.

The Lambretta scooters come with premium features like LED lighting system, 12V charging port and an analogue-digital combo cluster as standard. All three models also get a 220 mm front disc brake, telescopic forks and a rear mono-shock as standard. While the Lambretta V125 features CBS, the Lambretta V200 comes with ABS as standard. If launched in India, the Lambretta scooters will rival the Piaggio Vespa range.
