The new Ciaz was expected to launch in the first half of August, August 6 to be specific, but a new report from Autocar India states that the launch has been pushed to the second half of August. The reason is attributed to a launch hosted by a rival company in the same timeline.
The delay will also help NEXA dealers clear out stocks of the older iteration which are being sold at discounts ranging from from INR 75,000 to as high as INR 1.3 lakhs (depending on variant and dealership). If interested customers are waiting for the new Ciaz to arrive, they can expect a host of new features that elevates the premium quotient of Maruti's flagship sedan, and higher fuel efficiency.
The exterior will feature newer LED projector headlights (likely for range-topping Alpha trim) with LED daytime running lights that directly flows into a sleek new grille with chrome highlights, chrome accents around the redesigned fog lamp enclosures, LED taillamps, new alloy wheel designs and redesigned bumpers.
Changes inside aren't as dramatic as the exterior, however. Spyshots of the interior have revealed a lighter shade of faux-wood for the dashboard and door panels, an updated dual tone beige/black interior shade, and a new instrument cluster with a colour MID. Also new to the Ciaz is cruise control, with its buttons located on the right spoke of its steering wheel.

According to another recent report, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) will not come with a diesel variant; at least not initially. At launch, the only engine option to be offered is reported to be an all-new K15B VVT 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine equipped with the smart-hybrid SHVS technology. It will produce around 104.7 PS and 138 Nm, and come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. There are no details on a new automatic variant at this moment, but do expect Maruti to offer one to replace the 1.4L + 4AT option currently offered.
