HCIL has commenced production of the 2018 Honda Amaze ahead of its launch on May 16. The Tapukara facility in Rajasthan has been tasked with the manufacturing of the second generation Amaze.
Buyers of the second generation Amaze will get to choose from four grades – E, S, V, and VX. The range-topping VX configuration boasts features like a DIGIPAD 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto And Apple CarPlay support, automatic air conditioning, engine start/stop button, request sensor for keyless entry, electrically adjustable and electric folding ORVMs, LED position lamps, rear parking sensors with camera, fog lamps, and alloy wheels.
There are two engines to choose from - a 1.2 L i-VTEC petrol or a 1.5 L i-DTEC diesel engine. Both pair with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The petrol variant has a power out of 90 PS and 110 Nm, while the diesel engine develops 100 PS (manual)/80 PS (CVT) and 200 Nm (manual)/160 Nm (CVT). Overall fuel consumption stands at 19.5 km/l for the petrol manual and 19.0 km/l for the petrol automatic variant. The diesel manual and automatic versions return 27.4 km/l and 23.8 km/l respectively.
HCIL dealerships across the country have already started accepting bookings for the 2018 Honda Amaze. According to our estimates, the new Amaze is likely to have a starting price of around INR 5.60-6.00 lakhs (ex-showroom). Its rivals include the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire, Tata Zest, Tata Tigor, and VW Ameo.
