Toyota has revealed the 2018 Toyota Alphard and 2018 Toyota Velfire in Japan. The minivans have received a facelift for MY2018.
Spy shots and leaked brochure images had already revealed the 2018 Toyota Alphard and 2018 Toyota Velfire's before the official introduction. As noted before, the Alphard now looks more luxurious, and the Velfire has a bolder styling now. Toyota has made changes to the headlamps, front grille, front bumper, tailgate garnish and tail lamps for a more appealing exterior. Inside, the company has changed the instrument panel trim’s colour and given more such minor visual updates.
Second generation Toyota Safety Sense P is standard on the 2018 Toyota Alphard and 2018 Toyota Velfire. The second-gen TSS-P’s highlights include new Pre-Collision System (PCS) system that detects pedestrians even at night now as well as cyclists during the day, Lane Tracing Assist (LCA) with Lane Departure Alert (LDA) that includes detection of road edges now and Advance Car Start Notification function (TMN).
Toyota has replaced the 2GR-FE 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine (280 PS/344 Nm) with the 2GR-FKS 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine (301 PS/361 Nm). While the old engine was coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the new engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. In addition, Toyota has increased the body rigidity of the minivans.

The 2018 Toyota Alphard and 2018 Toyota Velfire will go on sale in Japan on January 8, 2018. Toyota has a monthly sales target of 3,600 units for the new Alphard and 4,500 units for the new Velfire.
