Audi has announced that it will launch the 2018 Audi Q5 in India on January 18, 2018. India will receive the new generation Audi Q5 over a year after its world premiere at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The second-gen Audi Q5 features an evolutionary design and is based on the MLB-Evo platform. The redesigned model is up to 90 kg lighter than the first-gen model. Globally, Audi introduced it with five engine engines, which are listed below:
- 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine, 185 kW (252 PS) and 370 Nm of torque
- 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, 110 kW (150 PS) and 320 Nm of torque
- 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, 120 kW (163 PS) and 400 Nm of torque
- 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, 140 kW (190 PS) and 400 Nm of torque
- 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine, 210 kW (286 PS) and 620 Nm of torque
Transmission choices include 6-speed, 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic and 8-speed tiptronic automatic gearboxes. Power goes to the front wheels in the basic configurations, while in the others there’s Audi's Quattro permanent AWD system. The Indian market is likely to get the all-new Q5 with the 190 PS 2.0-litre TDI engine paired with the 7-speed S tronic automatic transmission and Quattro permanent AWD system as standard.
Noteworthy features of the 2018 Audi Q5 include Matrix LED headlights with dynamic turn signals, 21-inch alloy wheels, LED rear lights with dynamic turn signals, 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, MMI navigation plus with MMI touch with an 8.3-inch display, Audi phone box wireless smartphone charger and Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound.

The 2018 Audi Q5’s prices should start somewhere between INR 45-50 lakh (ex-showroom). Audi will bring the all-new Q5 to India in CKD form from its San Jose Chiapa plant in Mexico. The SUV’s local assembly will take place at the Aurangabad facility. Audi has listed the all-new Q5 on its Indian website, which indicates dealers might have already started accepting orders.
