M&M launched the Mahindra XUV500 W9 grade in India last week, with prices starting at 15.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Here is a comparison of the features of the W9 grade with the rest of the variants.
The W9 grade is positioned above the W4 and W6 grades. Mahindra mentions electric sunroof, Ecosense, automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation and Android Auto, tyre pressure monitoring system and reverse parking camera with dynamic assist as the XUV500 W9’s highlights. The W9 grade adds keyless entry, push-button start/stop, front fog lamps, alloy wheels and chrome tailgate applique over the W6 grade.
The Mahindra XUV500 W9 comes with the 2.2-litre mHawk140 diesel engines. It develops 140 hp at 3,750 rpm and 330 Nm of torque from 1,600-2,800 rpm. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. An all-wheel-drive system is unavailable in the W9 grade.

Mahindra is working on a second facelift for the Mahindra XUV500. The updated model, expected to arrive as the MY2018, will feature a retuned 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine delivering around 170 PS and at least 350 Nm of torque. Also, a 2.2-litre petrol engine with MT & AT options is also on the cards.
