SAIC-owned brand showcases its Honda City rival.
MG showcased the MG5 sedan at the 2017 Bangkok International Motor Show that took place from 27 March to 9 April, 2017. The sub-compact sedan was launched in November 2015 in Thailand.
The MG5 sedan measures 4,612 mm in length, 1,804 mm in width and 1,488 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm and notably low ground clearance of 118 mm. Features like front fog lamps, 4-way adjustable front seats, keyless entry, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and four speakers, rear parking sensor and rear-view camera are standard. On the safety front, ABS, EBD, EBA, SCS, MSR, CBC, TCS, HAS and ITPMS are offered right from the base trim level.
Moving up the range, the MG5 sedan adds premium features like projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, sporty muffler finisher, electric sunroof, 6-way adjustable driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support, leather steering, leather seats, rear centre armrest with cup holder, six speakers and more in the higher-end grades.

The MG5 sedan is available with the 15S4C 1.5-litre VTi-TECH four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 78 kW (106 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 135 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm and the 15S4G 1.5-litre TCI-TECH four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 95 kW (129 PS) at 5,500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque between 2,000 rpm and 4,400 rpm. The former is paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission, while the latter gets a 6-speed automatic transmission.
