Rumoured to be sold alongside the VW Gol (based on the current Polo).
According to Auto Esporte, the next gen VW Polo will launch in Brazil in mid-October, following its premiere at the 2017 IAA in September. This timeline will also be followed by the launch of the next-gen Polo in European markets.
However, the report says that it will not replace the VW Gol (based on the current Polo), but rather be sold alongside it. The new Polo will be based on the VAG's new MQB A0 platform sourced from the 2017 SEAT Ibiza, which is developed for base cars while bringing the technology benefits of the MQB platform. For the Brazilian market, the Polo will launch with the 115 hp 1.0L TSI Flex engine and 120 hp 1.6 16V MPI engine, paired with 5-speed manual or automatic gearboxes.
The exterior of the new Polo was revealed last month unofficially in South Africa, featuring an evolutionary design that borrows cues from its bigger sibling - the Golf. The overall length will be just above 4 meters, and the wheelbase will be extended by 100 mm over the Gol for better knee room. The new Polo will also spawn a sedan that will slot between the VW Voyage (Gol-based sedan) and Jetta, called the VW Virtus. A Polo-based pickup is also being considered for launch in the second half of 2018, given the demand for personal pickup trucks in Brazil and the VW Saveiro needing renewal.

With Volkswagen exploring synergies with Tata Motors for using the latter's AMP platform to spawn mainstream vehicles, we doubt if mass-market models that use the MQB platform will launch in India.
