Gets an upscale interior and a minor increase in dimension.

Ford revealed the 2017 Ford Fiesta on November 30 in Germany, which is expected to hit European markets in mid-2017. Here's a brief pictorial comparison between the eighth generation Fiesta and its predecessor.

Exterior:

Being the best-selling model in Europe, it was no surprise that Ford designers wanted to retain the familiar design of the Fiesta, albeit with modern elements for a fresh look. It features a new hexagonal grille with chrome slats, slightly redesigned headlamps, new vertical taillamps with C-shaped signature light pattern, and redesigned rear bumper.

What's also noticeable is that it has slightly grown in size; the new Fiesta is 71 mm longer, 12 mm wider, and has a 4 mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor. Ford has added two new variants to the Fiesta's lineup, which include the upscale Vignale and Active crossover.

Interior:

Inside, the new Fiesta features an upscale interior with better perceived quality and a longer list of equipment than the outgoing car. It's also an ergonomic design with rotary temperature controls and a ‘floating’ touchscreen display running Ford's new SYNC3 infotainment software (6.5-inch on lower trims and 8.0-inch on Titanium and Vignale grades) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Top variants feature a 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Adjustable Speed Limiter, Blind Spot Information System, Distance Indication, Driver Alert, Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Keeping Alert and Forward Collision Warning.

Engine and Gearbox:

The new Fiesta's engine lineup for the British market has a 100 PS/125 PS/140 PS 1.0L EcoBoost three-cylinder engine, 120 PS 1.5L TDCi four cylinder turbodiesel engine and a 70PS/85 PS 1.1L three-cylinder naturally aspirated unit.

The EcoBoost and diesel engines are available with a 6-speed manual, while the 1.1L petrol gets a 5-speed manual. The EcoBoost 100 PS variant comes exclusively with a 6-speed automatic gearbox as an option.
