Will be Audi's least expensive product in India.

Autocar India reports that Audi is considering to launch the LWB version of the Audi Q2 in India, which was initially thought to be exclusive to the Chinese market. It could launch in India in 2017.

The Audi Q2 could launch in India in 2017 as a locally assembled model.

The Audi Q2 will be the company's least expensive product, and rival the likes of the Mercedes GLA and BMW X1. Given that the regular Q2 has average room for rear passengers, which would not appeal to Indian car buyers, it's no surprise that the Q2 L is being considered for India.

Another reason stated by the report is that the parts will be imported from China, where it is manufactured by FAW-Volkswagen Audi. This would be less expensive than importing parts from Europe, thus affecting its final pricing.

The engine lineup of the global-spec model includes the 1.0-litre TFSI three-cylinder petrol engine, 1.4- and 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder petrol engines and three four-cylinder TDI diesel engines with 1.6- and 2.0-litre displacements. The India-spec Q2 is likely to offer the 2.0L TDI diesel engine, which will soon be locally assembled.
