2016 Toyota GT86 (facelift) vs Older model - Old vs New

The Toyota GT86, also known as the Toyota 86 in some markets, will be unveiled in a facelifted avatar at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. Here's a comparison between the old Toyota GT86 and the 2016 Toyota GT86 (facelift).

Exterior

The front of the sports coupe has been made more aggressive and given an update with a larger centre intake, re-configured LED headlamps and turn signals, a new foglamp bezel and revised bumper. At the sides, Toyota will be offering new alloy wheels with a twisted spoke design. At the rear, the facelift brings LED taillamps and a new bumper design.

Interior

Toyota claims to have greatly improved the interior quality with the facelift. There's a new Leather-Alcantara seat option with suede wrapped instrument panel available, which adds a new, soft feel to the door trim. Other interior highlights include a sporty steering wheel with integrated audio controls and an 86 logo on the centre hub, and silver stitching on the seating material.

The Euro-spec GT86 gets a new suspension set-up with revised shock tuning. The spring rate has been changed to improve the control and make the car more agile. In the U.S.-spec 2017 Toyota 86, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine has been improved to produce an extra 5 hp and 5 lb.-ft. (7 Nm) of torque. The naturally aspirated engine now produces 200 hp and 156 lb.-ft. (212 Nm) of torque. The gear ratio has been changed. Lastly, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) system has also been added.
