Reportedly coming to the Geneva Motor Show next month.
The VW Golf will receive its mid-life facelift reportedly at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show which opens on March 1.
Days ahead of its premiere, speculative renderings by Theophilus Chin serve as a preview. Up front, the 2016 VW Golf features new headlamps, new three-bar chrome grille – both inspired by the 2015 VW Passat (B9) – and restyled front bumper, air dam grille and fog lamps. At the rear, the tail lamps and the bumper have been given little tweaks.
With the facelift, Volkswagen will reportedly debut new 1.5-litre four-cylinder engines in multiple outputs. The new engines will become available around 6 months after the new Golf’s Swiss debut. These new units will replace the current 1.4- and 1.6-litre mills, but the 1.8- and 2.0-litre engines may continue being offered.
The VW Golf GTE’s plug-in hybrid powertrain will reportedly be dialed-up to produce 221 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Some changes will be made to the steering and suspension as well. The facelift would add a new trailer assist parking feature, and may also get a fully digital instrument cluster, head-up display and a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility.
