Could be exclusive to the Japanese market.
In a leaked staff manual detailing the tech specs of the 2016 Toyota Prius, several body kits have been featured for further personalization, one of which is designed by Toyota's own TRD division.
As expected, it adds a sporty character to the futuristic design of the 2016 Toyota Prius. Customers can choose between two front bumper designs, where both sit low for a dynamic stance. In one of the bumpers, there are LED DRLs placed beside the intake.
The side profile gets sill extensions and a wide array of custom rim choices that range from 15 inch to 18 inch. At the back, it features a spoiler on the tailgate and twin exhaust tips placed centrally.
No pictures of the interior have been revealed yet, although we could expect TRD to offer sportier body hugging seats, exclusive leather upholstery with contrast stitching, aluminum pedals, and TRD badges in the cabin.
Although Toyota hasn't revealed any details of the hybrid system under the hood, the same staff manual divulges that the new Prius is powered by a 1.8-liter Atkinson Cycle petrol engine paired to an electric motor, which is capable of achieving 40 km/L (JCO8 cycle). Toyota is also offering an E-Four electric AWD system, which drops the fuel consumption to 35 km/L (JCO8 Cycle).
