Arriving in India in H1 2016, reportedly.
The second generation 2016 Toyota Innova will finally be making its world debut in Indonesia today. Engineered from the ground up, the new Innova features an all new design, better equipment list, increased focus towards occupant safety and a new diesel engine.
To be available in three trim levels: G, V and Q, the exterior design is a revolutionary upgrade from the outgoing model. Although the wheelbase remains identical, the new Innova is 4,735 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,795 mm high, which is 180 mm longer, 60 mm wider, 45 mm higher than the older model.
Like the exterior, the new Innova gets an all new interior that is designed around rear passenger comfort. It drops the utilitarian cabin of the outgoing model for a car-like interior. Given Toyota's aim in stepping up the Innova's premium quotient, expect it to feature premium materials and good build quality.
Speaking of equipment, the 2016 Innova will offer a long equipment list that can rival premium European MPVs. It features swept-back LED headlamps (Q trim only), a 7-inch touchscreen display with support for voice commands and Bluetooth as standard (8 inch system for V and Q trims), a TFT screen for the MID, ambient LED lighting, automatic climate control, all-auto windows, and Smart Entry Key.
The engine lineup will include a 2.0-liter VVT-i petrol engine or a 2.4-liter GD diesel engine. The latter is an all-new diesel engine sourced from the Toyota Hilux Revo, which produces 149 PS. Depending on the transmission chosen, the torque figure varies; 6-speed AT variant produces 36.7 kgm (360 Nm) of torque, while the 5-speed manual model delivers 34.9 kgm (342 Nm) of torque.
