High demand for diesel automatic variant.
Speaking to a few Toyota dealerships in metros, it appears that the 2016 Toyota Fortuner, after just 2 weeks of its launch, has a waiting period of eight weeks, with deliveries promised before the new year or in the first week of 2017.
As expected, bulk of the demand is for the diesel automatic variant, which is priced (Ex-showroom Delhi) at INR 29.14 Lakhs and INR 31.12 Lakhs (4x4 variant). The diesel variant is powered by the Innova Crysta's a 2.8L GD four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 174 hp and 450, available with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. A 4x4 drivetrain is exclusive to both the diesel manual and diesel automatic variants.
However, the Fortuner's petrol variant is readily available at the dealerships, so prospective customers looking to acquire one need not have to wait. Priced between INR 25.92 Lakhs and INR 27.61 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi), the Fortuner petrol features a 2.7L dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine with 164 hp and 245 Nm, also available with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
