To launch this financial year or by H1 2017.
The next gen 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been spied testing on the Mysore-Bangalore highway, close to Toyota's manufacturing plant in Bidadi, Karnataka. The Ford Endeavour-rival will arrive this financial year or by H1 2017.
Although the 2,750 mm long wheelbase of the new Fortuner is identical to the outgoing model, it is 90 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the outgoing model.
Inside, the new Fortuner features an all new interior design with elements borrowed from its MPV sibling - the Innova Crysta. Top-end grades will feature LED projector headlights with daytime running lights, A-TRC Traction Control (TRC) system, Down Hill Assist Control (DAC) system, electric tailgate, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, 7 inch T-Connect infotainment system with satellite navigation, reversing camera and push button start/stop.
The new Fortuner is likely to be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. It will source its engine lineup from the Innova Crysta, where the petrol variant is likely to pack a 2.7L VVT-i four cylinder engine paired to a 6-speed AT, while the diesel variant will offer two engine options: 2.4L or 2.8L four cylinder turbodiesel GD units. Transmission options for the latter include a 6-speed manual and automatic, while a 4WD system is likely to be equipped in the top-end 2.8 variant.
