Harley Davidson India has launched the 2016 Sportster 1200 Custom at INR 8.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It is marketed as a blend of a sportster and a custom cruiser.
The 1200 Custom is powered by the 1,202 cc Evolution twin-cylinder air-cooled engine that generates 96 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm. The motor is mated to a five-speed gearbox and gets a twin-exhaust system. The engine is installed onto the bike with rubber mounts that improves its NVH characteristics.
The motorcycle is embellished with black powder coating on engine block, chrome treatment on cylinder head and covers, spoke-wheels, headlamp, fork, exhaust, instruments, and the like, and an LED taillamp. The bike features a pull-back handlebar, telescopic fork, coilover springs at the rear, Michelin Scorcher 31-inch high profile tyres, and a digital instrument cluster with a gear shift indicator, two trip metres, clock, low fuel warning, low oil pressure indicator, engine diagnostics readout and the like.

The Sportster 1200 Custom is assembled locally from CKD kits, at the company's facility in Bawal, Haryana. This is the 13th model in the brand's Indian portfolio and the eighth to be locally assembled.
