No changes to the petrol engines.
The 2016 Ford EcoSport model year update is due to go on sale in the coming days. Here are the technical changes that will be seen on the updated compact SUV.
The 2016 EcoSport will continue to be offered with a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol and a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol. The 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine will produce 100 PS at 3,750 rpm and 205 Nm of torque between 1,750 - 3,250 rpm, as against the outgoing model's 91 PS and 204 Nm of torque. The power and torque outputs of the petrol engines remain unchanged.
As a result of the diesel engine's retuning for better power delivery, fuel efficiency has taken a hit. The ARAI-rated claim stands at 22.27 km/l, whereas the outgoing EcoSport delivers 22.67 km/l. There are no changes to the petrol engines once again.
There are no changes to the ground clearance of the 2016 EcoSport, which continues to be 200 mm. For the European market, Ford lowered the ride height in the interest of better handling, but this will not be in effect for the Indian market.
