Draws design cues from the new 7 Series.
Autobild has posted an updated rendering of the next generation BMW 5 Series (BMW G30), which is expected to break cover at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in October.
As seen in several spyshots and reports that have influenced the rendering, the new 5 Series will draw design cues from the 2015 BMW 7 Series. For instance, the new LED headlamps run directly into the BMW grille that could feature active air ducts for efficient cooling, and a sportier bumper that is seemingly meant for the M Sport variant.
The next BMW 5 Series will be based on BMW's all new CLAR RWD platform. First used in the new 7 Series, the platform integrates mass produced CFRP and various lightweight metals into its construction which has reportedly brought down the kerb weight by 100 kg.

Under the hood, the 5 Series will offer BMW's latest B-Family engines, such as the B47 diesel and B48 petrol 2.0-litre four-cylinder units, B57 quad-turbo V6 diesel and B58 petrol 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder units. The top-end BMW M550i and the BMW M5 will pack a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine expected to output over 600 hp.
