2016 Toyota SW4 (Fortuner) prepped for launch before new year - Argentina

Autoblog Argentina reports that 2016 Toyota SW4 has been prepped for launch in Argentina, days before the new year. The model is already available for sale as the 2016 Toyota Fortuner in Thailand and Australia.

The new SW4 measures 4,795 mm long (90 mm longer than the outgoing model) but has the same wheelbase of 2,750 mm. It gets sleek projector headlights with LED daytime running lamps and LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, shark fin antenna, ORVM-integrated turn signals, and an electric tailgate.

The interior has leather upholstery and comes with a new multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel, TFT-screen for MID in the new instrument cluster, 8-way electric driver’s seat, 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system with DVD/CD/MP3/Radio/USB/AUX-in/Bluetooth and Navigation, chilled glovebox.

Other features include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable door mirrors with power folding function, engine Start/Stop button paired with Smart Key entry, and cruise control. For better practicality, the new SW4 comes with 2 seats in the third row.

Based on a re-inforced ladder frame platform from the 2016 Toyota Hilux, power is sourced from an all new 2.8-liter GD turbodiesel engine that produces 177 hp. Torque figure varies with the transmission choice - 420 Nm with a six-speed manual gearbox and 450 Nm with a six-speed automatic.
