Isuzu has showcased the 2016 Isuzu D-Max pickup truck at the 2015 Thailand Motor Expo. The vehicle made its global debut on November 4.
The exterior of the pickup features several revisions which come in the form of a bolder front end that gets sleek headlamps with LED DRLs, twin-strip chrome grille and round fog lamps in new peeled-back enclosures. The pickup is hoisted on 18-inch wheels (top-end variant) and has body-coloured side mirrors.
The interior is updated with an optional 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Isuzu Connect, new TFT multi-information display and roof-mounted loudspeakers. There is also an Isuzu Insight economy driving app to get driving recommendations directly to a smartphone.
The highlight of the Isuzu D-Max facelift is the new 1.9 Ddi diesel engine that churns out 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque. This mill is paired with a 6-speed Sport Shift gearbox and has an impressive carbon emission figure of 161 g/km.
In comparison to the outgoing 2.5-litre Ddi VGS turbo-diesel engine, this new unit is 10 per cent more powerful, has 9.4 per cent more torque, provides 8 per cent increase in acceleration and 19 per cent improvement in fuel economy. The larger 3.0-litre turbo-diesel option continues and belts out figures of 177 hp and 380 Nm of torque.
