At the company's 'Big Show' in Philippines, Foton has launched their first ever SUV for the country, the Foton Toplander, which is sold as the Foton Sauvana in the Chinese market. Pricing ranges between PHP 998,000 and PHP 1,150,000.
The exterior features a waterfall grille flanked by projector headlamps with LED DRLs, round foglamps and a dual-slat grille, contoured hood, ORVMs with turn indicators, chrome bezels for the windows, and LED taillamps connected by a bold chrome bar. It rides on chunky 265/65 R17 tires at each corner, and measures 4,830 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,840 mm tall.
Inside, the Toplander comes with an all-black interior with chrome and silver accents. As for equipment, it has dual-zone air conditioning, an infotainment screen, and USB/AUX ports. Safety features include Dual SRS airbags, anti-lock brakes, and rear back-up sensors. The 4x4 variant has electronic stability program with hill start and hill descent control.
The SUV is based on the ladder-frame platform from the Foton Thunder pick-up, and is powered by a 2.8-liter Cummins ISF diesel engine producing 160 hp at 3,600 rpm and 360 Nm from 1,800 to 3,600 rpm. The Euro 4 certified engine is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, in 2WD and 4WD guises.
