Could be slotted beneath the Hero Super Splendor.

The Hero HF Dawn commuter motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp has been spotted recently in a new avatar. Named the Dawn 125 (as seen beneath the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster), the model seems to be a brand new, higher variant of the HF Dawn nameplate. It could be badged as the Hero HF Dawn 125.

From the looks of it, the Hero HF Dawn 125 is powered by the same single-cylinder, 125 cc, air-cooled engine doing duty on the Hero Super Splendor. This engine on the latter produces 9.12 PS maximum power at 7,000 rpm and 10.35 Nm peak torque at 4,000 rpm, and is mated to a 4-speed gearbox. It is likely that these specifications could be carried over to the upcoming variant.

The styling of the Dawn 125 seems similar to that of the existing Dawn 100, starting from the classic round headlamp, but the higher variant will benefit from a bikini fairing. While traces of the Hero Super Splendor's aesthetics can be seen on the side cowl and rear/tail fairing of the prototype, the fuel tank is completely hidden with camouflage suggesting a comprehensive makeover.

The rest of the components on the Dawn 125 indicate that it will be touted just as a marginally-higher powered commuter. Those elements are, circular halogen headlamp, short wind deflector, a conventional, twin-pot analog instrument console, slim telescopic front fork, twin coilovers at the rear, drum brakes for both wheels, and a small cargo carrier with pillion grab handle.

The Hero HF Dawn 125 could be marketed as the most affordable 125 cc motorcycle in the company's portfolio, targeted at rural markets.
