Chinese-spec model will be locally manufactured by SAIC.
The Shanghai-GM JV has unveiled the Chinese-spec Cadillac CT6 luxury sedan at the 2015 Chengdu Motor Show today. The flagship sedan is expected to launch in China in Q4 2015, and will by locally manufactured by SAIC.
The Cadillac CT6 made its world debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show, featuring the company’s latest design language that combines modern elements with the characteristic sharp looks of a Cadillac. It is based on the GM Omega platform, which will also underpin a future Buick flagship sedan to be manufactured and sold in China as well.
The Chinese-spec CT6 features a “40T” badging, which seems to be the local designation of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It produces 405 hp and 543 Nm of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. For increased fuel efficiency, the engine supports cylinder deactivation.
It also comes with an optional all-wheel drive, 4-wheel steering, 3 performance driving modes and Magnetic Ride Control, for better handling and ride quality.
