2015 Nissan X-Trail to launch in India during this Diwali – Report

It goes without saying that I’m a huge petrolhead and can apparently convert all my driving emotions into words you can read.

Will be the first CMF-based product to launch in India.

According to Autocar India, Nissan India will launch the new Nissan X-Trail in India during Diwali, thus re-introducing the X-Trail nameplate after it was discontinued in 2014.

The latest model based on Renault-Nissan’s Common Module Family (CMF) architecture, and will be one of the first products in India to ride on the platform.

The Nissan X-Trail was first revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, and its styling is influenced by Nissan’s latest design philosophy. The SUV measures 4,640 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, 1,720 mm in height and sports a wheelbase of 2,705 mm.

The latest model based on Renault-Nissan’s Common Module Family (CMF) architecture, and will be one of the first products in India to ride on the platform. It offers 7-seats (5+2) and 550 litres of boot space with the third row of seats down.

The range-topping variant could feature an Around View Monitor, dual-zone climate control system, 7-inch Nissan Connect infotainment system,

The range-topping variant could be equipped with electrically adjustable seats, Active Engine Brake, Active Traction Control and Active Ride Control, LED projector headlamps and DRLs, cruise control, Around View Monitor, dual-zone climate control system, 7-inch Nissan Connect infotainment system, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, 4 airbags and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, the Nissan X-Trail packs a 2.0 liter petrol engine matched to a manual transmission or a CVT, or a 2.5 liter petrol engine matched to a CVT, in other market. Nissan could offer a diesel option, which could feature a 2.0-liter DCi diesel option paired to a CVT gearbox.

The Nissan X-Trail will be brought to India via the CBU route, and will enter the segment that comprises of rivals like Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V.
