Goes on sale in September in the UK.
The next-generation Skoda Superb has been spotted in flesh for the first time (without camouflaging) since its global premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show earlier this month. Photographer Jirka Sedli Sedlacek snapped the new car in Prague, Czech Republic.
Skoda UK announced this month that the Superb will go on sale in September starting at 18,640 pounds (INR 17.72 lakhs). Production of the car commenced at the Kvasiny plant in Czech Republic on March 12.
Skoda’s new flagship family sedan is based on the VW’s MQB platform and is lighter by up to 75 kg. The car is 80 mm longer than the out-going model, but comes with shorter overhangs (by 61 mm). The car features increased rear leg room and 625 litres of boot space expandable upto 1,760 litres with rear seats folded.
The new Superb’s styling is inspired from the VisionC concept, comes with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and bi-xenon headlights as an option. Depending on trims, the car comes loaded with features including car infotainment-iPad connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto function through Mirror Link, and wireless smartphone charging starting from 2016.
Skoda offers five petrol and three diesel engine options on the new Superb. A dual clutch transmission is standard, except for the base petrol variant which uses a 6-speed manual gearbox. An all-wheel drive system featuring the 5th generation Haldex system is also provided.
Skoda India may not introduce the new Superb before the beginning of next year.
