After showing a concept at this year's Detroit Motor Show in January, the 2015 Lincoln MKC production version is fully revealed at the 2013 LA Auto Show.
Lincoln announced plans to introduce four new luxury vehicles by 2016. After revealing the MKZ sedan, the MKC crossover is the second of those four vehicles.
Two engine options are available for the MKC. The standard spec is powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 240 hp at 5,500 rpm and 366 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The top-end variants are powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine capable of 275 hp at 5,500 rpm and 406 Nm at 3,000 rpm. The MKC will be available with 2WD and 4WD, with the latter receiving a Continuously Controlled Damping system.
To increase the fuel efficiency, Active Grille Shutters are installed which reduce the drag at highway speeds. Other features such as collision warning with brake support, lane-keeping assist, parking assist, blind spot information system and sever airbags are offered either as standard or optional.
Production of the MKC will commence in the second quarter of 2014 at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky, USA, with deliveries commencing later that summer. Prices will be announced closer to the market launch.
