Ford of Brazil have announced the 2015 model year updates for the EcoSport. The crossover does not get any styling changes on the outside, or the inside for that matter, but new colors have been included in the lineup.
The three new body colors - Solid White Vanilla, Dublin Metallic Silver and Pearlescent Red Merlot - are seen in these images. In India, Ford offers a brighter shade of white and an identical silver shade called 'Moondust Silver'. The Red Merlot is unavailable in the country though.
A new variant combining the features of the mid-spec Freestyle grade along with the 6-speed PowerShift (dual-clutch automatic) gearbox is now available. The EcoSport Freestyle PowerShift is exclusively available with the larger 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which is capable of running on gasoline and ethanol. It produces 147 bhp while running on ethanol and 141 bhp with gasoline.
Features seen on this variant include 16-inch alloys with 205/60 R16 tires, roof rack with crossbars, onboard computer, reverse sensors, front and rear electric windows with one-touch closing, lumbar adjustment of driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, four speakers and two tweeters, Ford's SYNC connectivity system with radio, CD-player, Bluetooth connection, auxiliary and USB inputs, voice commands for audio and cell phone, ABS, ESC, TCS, EBD, dual airbags and side airbags.
In India, Ford could explore the possibility of adding new colors to the EcoSport to continue the interest levels. Additionally, a sunroof equipped EcoSport, which was shown at the Auto Expo this year, could be offered as well.
