The Hyundai Sonata received a minor facelift in select markets including South Korea and Malaysia a few months ago.
However, Hyundai Korea was working on further improving the sedan. We even had spyshots of the new Sonata which featured improvements over the facelifted model. Now, the improved version is launched in South Korea as the 2014 model year update.
The 2014 Hyundai Sonata gets added features without asking for more from customers. The visual differentiators of the car are very subtle, the front grill has redesigned slats and the taillamps get re-detailed elements. The higher Modern variant now gets 18" alloy wheels.
In terms of equipment, the high-end Premium variant comes with leather seats with heating option for the rear bench, JBL premium sound system, a 4.3" LCD display in the centre console and powered passenger seat.
Powertrain options continue to be the 2.0 litre petrol motor and the 2.0 litre GDi direct injection turbo petrol. The former generates 172PS while the latter makes a healthier 271PS. Both engines go with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Prices of the 2014 Hyundai Sonata in Korea range from 20.4 million Won (around Rs.10.51 lakhs) to 27.9 million Won (around Rs. 14.38 lakhs).
