Mercedes-Benz India today confirmed that the Mercedes SLK 55 AMG will launch in India on the 2nd of December.

The new Mercedes SLK 55 AMG was launched globally early last year.

The SLK 55 AMG is powered by a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 motor that punches out 421 hp. Thanks to this more than healthy output, the SLK accelerates from 0-100 kph in 4.6 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top-speed of 250 kph. The car is driven through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC PLUS seven-speed automatic transmission which offers three driving modes – Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S) and Manual (M).

It features a 5.5L V8 engine that delivers 421 hp and is driven via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The new model is about 30 percent more efficient than the previous version with a fuel efficiency of 11.89 kpl (in the UK driving cycle) and CO2 emissions of 195 g/km. Two cylinders on each bank are shut off when the load on the engine is less, and a start-stop system is included as well.

To differentiate the SLK 55 AMG from the regular SLK, visually and mechanically, AMG fits the car with front and rear aprons and side skirting, ventilated and perforated disc brakes, AMG sports suspension, Nappa leather upholstery, and 18-inch AMG alloy wheels.

Despite such high outputs, AMG engineers have juiced out a 30 percent higher efficiency (compared to the previous gen car) by using start-stop and cylinder management.

To improve the handling and responsiveness, the regular brakes and steering are upgraded to performance-oriented Torque Vectoring Brake and AMG Direct-Steer system.
