I’m a true-blooded petrolhead. Hope you enjoy our news stories, launch coverages, motorshow coverages and test drive reports.
The Tata Xenon XT was launched in the South African market yesterday. Segmented as pickup trucks in India and ‘Utes’ in Australia, vehicles such as the Xenon are known as ‘bakkie’ in South Africa.
Four variants of the Xenon XT have been launched in South Africa – Single Cab (4×2 and 4×4) and Double Cab (4×2 and 4×4). Top-end variants of the XT get features such as navigation, Bluetooth, dual front airbags and ABS.
The Xenon XT is powered by the same 2.2-liter VTT DICOR engine which produces 147hp and 320Nm of torque. Tata say they have fine-tuned the engine to meet the Euro II emission requirements of South Africa.
Mr. RT Wasan, Head, International Business, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, said –
The launch of the Tata Xenon XT will further fortify our position in the South African automotive industry and motivate us to develop more such exciting vehicles for our South African customers.
Prices for the Xenon XT start at 189,995 Rand (INR 11.69 lakhs) for the single cab 4×2 variant and go up to 269,995 Rand (INR 16.61 lakhs) for the top-end 4×4 double cab variant.
