The India-made Suzuki Ertiga has been giving sleepless nights to the market leading twins, the Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia, in Indonesia.
The crossover MPV which is sourced from India as a CKD is overall the fourth best selling car and Suzuki's top seller in Indonesia for the first half of 2013. In order to reinforce its assault, Suzuki has launched a special edition called the Ertiga Elegant.
The Suzuki Ertiga Elegant is based on the GX variant and comes with side mouldings, body skirting, rear roof spoiler, extension for the exhaust, and chrome garnish and 'Elegant' badge on the rear door.
The interior of the car remains the same save for the leather upholstery which is available as an optional extra in other variants. The Ertiga Elegant is something similar to what Maruti Suzuki has accomplished with the Ertiga Feliz.
The Indonesian model is powered by the 1.4 litre K-Series petrol motor that is mated either to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The MPV is highly sought after in Indonesia and hence, to meet the rising demand, Suzuki has expanded the capacity of its East Bekasi plant to assemble 7,000 Ertigas a month.
Suzuki charges 10 million rupiah (around Rs. 59,480) over the GX model for the Ertiga Elegant.
