The Chevrolet stall at the Geneva Motor Show will be quite busy with polarizing products on display.
On one side, you will see the Corvette Convertible with a massive V8 under the bonnet.
On the other side, you will see new Spark EV (called as the Chevrolet Beat in India) ready to make its European debut.
If you remember, the U.S. version of Chevrolet Spark EV was showcased at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This EV version looks different than the Beat sold in India and is loaded with lots more technology.
The European version of the Spark EV will be powered by the same permanent magnet electric motor of the U.S. version which generates 130 hp and 542 Nm of torque, enough to do a 0-100 kmph run in less than eight seconds.
Power is provided by a 20+ kWh lithium-ion battery which can be ‘Fast Charged’ to 80% in under 20 minutes. A normal charging process takes about six and eight hours for a full charge using a regular 230V outlet. On a full charge, the range is expected to be around 160-200 km.
The interior has two full color seven-inch LCD screens, a digital instrument cluster, chrome and blue trim appointments, rearview camera, and Chevy's MyLink infotainment system which is compatible with Apple’s Siri.
The Spark EV will be a strong competitor to the Renault Zoe, Citroën C-Zero and the Mitsubishi i-Miev and is expected to cost under 17 lakh rupees.
