China gets the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Black Edition
Nithyanandh K, As a toddler, those wheeled machinery fascinated me even before I knew what they’re called as! So here I'm, petrolhead by birth, Mechanical engineer by qualification and automotive reporter by profession!
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Black Edition is one masculine SUV who’s bossy look says it all.
Our neighbors from China will be able to own one from now and it is not a limited edition. The SRT (Street & Racing Technology) has been the crown jewel of the Chrysler group. Be it the Dodges or the Jeeps, the signal to signal drag races in America hardly gets entertaining without the SRT cars.
SRT is Chrysler group’s AMG, which means you get a furious monster of an American engine along with body kits, bigger wheels and the three lettered badge. The Grand Cherokee SRT is powered by the 6.4 litre HEMI (derived from hemispherical combustion chamber) V8 engine that nurtures 468 strong horses. The 624 Nm of torque cannot be taken lightly either.
The Grand Cherokee SRT Black Edition takes its name very seriously and almost everything in the car is finished in Piano black. And that includes the Jeep logo too!
The window sports chrome outlining, the fog lamp enclosure, the massive wheels and the twin exhaust tips also get the chrome treatment.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Black Edition retails in China at 1.19 million Yuan (around Rs. 1.04 Cr) and brushes its shoulder against the Mercedes G63 AMG.
