India-spec Chevrolet Sail U-VA studio shots
Dhruv Saxena, Mechanical engineer trying to find his place in the world of automobile journalism.
Here are some studio shots of the Chevrolet Sail U-VA previewed to the media earlier today in Pune, Maharashtra.
The Indian Sail differs mildly from its Chinese cousin, with the use of extra chrome on the body and sporting a slightly higher ground clearance, among other subtle changes.
Brought in as the successor to the Aveo U-VA, GM developed the Chevrolet Sail U-VA in partnership with SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industrial Corporation) in China's PATAC (Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center) facility. GM India's engineers are fully responsible for smoothly integrating the 1.3L diesel engine into this car as it isn't available in anywhere else in the world.
Don't forget to read our previous posts to get more details about the changes and modifications GM India have made to the Chinese Sail, to adapt it to our market. The slideshow below has the complete technical specifications of the petrol and diesel variants.
GM India will come out with the Sail sedan next year. The hatchback will get launched with both petrol and diesel fuel options, in three variants each, in the following weeks.
We will publish a comprehensive first look and driving impressions post shortly, so stick around with IndianAutosBlog.com!
