The distributor of Hyundai cars in Philippines, Hyundai Asia Resources (HARI), introduced two vehicles at the ongoing 2012 Manila International Auto Show. The Eon hatchback and the Veloster sports car were launched at the Manila International Motor Show on the 29th of March. Hyundai displayed the Veloster at the Delhi Auto Expo without divulging its future plans.
The Eon for Philippines is manufactured in India equipped with the same 0.8-liter Epsilon motor that puts out 55hp and 75Nm of torque. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission, it delivers a mileage of 26.3 kpl in the economy test conducted in Philippines.
The Eon is Hyundai's Etios - it helps explore lower segments where people are buying cars for the first time or in a price bracket where used cars sit. Though the Eon is the starting model it has to be mentioned that it does not have a feature deficit. Driver side airbag, power windows, keyless entry and an USB slot are a few to note.
The Eon is sold in two variants for Philippines. The entry-level model is sold at P438,000 (5.21 lakhs) while the range-topping model fitted with the body-colored bumpers is priced at P498,000 (5.92 lakhs).
