Develops 355 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.
The VW Cross Coupe GTE Concept is presented at the 2015 NAIAS (2015 Detroit Auto Show). The German car maker says that the concept previews the design of a mid-size SUV which will enter production in the U.S.A. in late-2016.
Power for the Cross Coupe GTE comes from a 3.6-liter FSI engine which is capable of producing 276 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It is assisted by two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear. The front motor makes 54 bhp and 220 Nm of torque, while the rear develops 114 bhp and 270 Nm of torque.
Combined, the system output of the Cross Coupe stands at 355 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. This is adequate for a top-speed of 208 km/h and a 0-96 km/h acceleration time of 6 seconds.
Based on VW's MQB architecture, the Cross Coupe GTE measures 4,846 mm in length, 2,029 mm in width and 1,734 mm in height. The show car, painted in a special Grand Pacific Glacier Blue shade, gets 22-inch wheels and 285/40 tires.
The SUV can be driven in four modes namely On-road, Off-road, Sport and Snow. The powertrain on the other hand can be configured among five modes: E-Mode, Hybrid, GTE, Off-road, and Battery Hold/Battery Charge.
