UM has officially announced that the brand will be unveiling the world’s first electric cruiser on Indian soil at the 2018 Auto Expo this month. The company will also unveil a 230 cc cruiser for mass segment, which will likely be the Renegade Duty 230.
The motorcycle maker will also showcase its new and existing models. This includes Renegade Commando Classic, Renegade Commando Mojave, Renegade Commando and Renegade Sports S. Speaking at the announcement, Mr. Rajeev Mishra, CEO-UM Lohia Two Wheelers Pvt. Ltd said:
We are very excited to be a part of the Auto Expo 2018 and are confident that the visitors will be thrilled by the UM range of Motorcycles showcased at our stand. We'll also be unveiling the world’s first electric geared high-speed cruiser and a newly designed 230cc cruiser which will showcase the prowess of UM Motorcycles at the Auto Expo. We are expecting a healthy footfall as we have some great surprises for the visitors which they can only experience at the stand.
Last month it was reported that UM is working on a 230 cc mill, and the motorcycle was spotted testing in the country too. This year, the company will reportedly launch three new bikes; and next year a 230 cc café racer will enter the market, as per reports.
The electric cruiser will reportedly cost around INR 6-7 lakhs, ex-showroom. When launched, it would be the most expensive offering from the brand. The UM Renegade Duty 230 will be the brand’s least expensive motorcycle, effectively improving the affordability. At present, the Renegade Sports S is the entry-level product and primarily competes with the Royal Enfield Bullet and Classic range.
