Apart from unveiling cars such as the 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis and the Etios Cross, Toyota showcased their legendary Hiace people mover and the GT 86 sports car at the ongoing Auto Expo.
Toyota Hiace
Seen here is the Grand Cabin variant of the Hiace which offers seating for 10 people including the driver. Power for this gigantic people mover comes from a 3.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 134 hp at 3,400 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,200 rpm. A 4-speed auto box sends this power to the rear wheels.
A 2.7-liter petrol engine producing 148 hp and 241 Nm of torque is also available on the international Hiace.
Toyota GT 86
The Toyota GT 86 is powered by a 2.0-liter Boxer engine producing 197 hp and 205 Nm of torque. Available with a manual or automatic transmission, the GT 86 is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds (8.2 in case of automatic) and achieves a top-speed of 226 km/h (210 km/h for the automatic).
The GT 86 is a result of Toyota and Subaru coming together (Subaru calls theirs the BRZ). Toyota did not state if these models would come to India.
