The Toyota Etios Cross and the new Toyota Corolla Altis have brought some cheer for the Japanese company. Both cars were launched in May 2014, and according to statistics shared by TKM (Toyota Kirloskar Motor), have received better-than-expected response.
The Etios Cross recorded 5,400 bookings and the new Corolla has more than 3,000 bookings, says Mr. N. Raja, Director and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, TKM. Last month, TKM sold 922 units of the Corolla and 626 units of the Etios Cross. The waiting period for the Cross is a bit more than 3 months, while its about 2 months for the Corolla. Mr. Raja said that the company was working to reduce the waiting period.
The Etios Cross is available in a total of three engine configurations - 1.2-liter and 1.5-liter petrol and 1.4-liter diesel. The car is sold in its 'G' and 'V' trim for the 1.2- and 1.5-liter respectively, and in its 'GD' and 'VD' trims for the 1.4-liter diesel.
The Corolla is sold with a 1.8-liter petrol engine and a 1.4-liter diesel engine. The petrol variant gets manual and CVT gearboxes, while the diesel is sold with a manual only. It gets 5 petrol and 4 diesel variants.
