Tata Motors hopes to dominate the UV segment.
ET Auto reports that the Tata Nexon is on course for its launch in India in the second half of this year. It will be the second new UV from Tata Motors to launch this year, following the Tata Hexa.
Speaking on the future of UVs, Tata Motors managing director Gunter Butschek said:
There is much more in the UV segment for us, there is much more you can expect from Tata Motors in the latter half of this year. This is our return in the utility vehicle segment. We understand that customer segments have changed and they are seeking more utility lifestyle products and that is what we intend to offer in the future.
The Nexon measures 3,995 mm long and has a ground clearance of 200 mm. It slots in the highly lucrative sub-4m SUV segment that comprises of models like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300. Tata will bank on the Nexon's design, features like Super Drive Modes selector similar to the Hexa, powertrain options and a range of customisation options to attract customers.

The engine lineup will include a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine producing 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or an AMT, and a turbocharged version of Tiago’s 1.2-liter three-cylinder Revotron petrol unit.
