Launch depends on the company's strategies for Indonesia.
The story on the Tata Nano's rumored introduction in Indonesia has been going through a rough patch ever since Tata Motors announced its entry into the market in 2012, followed by its launch a year later as PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI).
When TMDI was set up, they had stated that they were "considering" the Tata Nano for Indonesia, and had brought it for display at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show. However, new reports have suggested that the company has no plans of introducing one of the world's cheapest cars in Indonesia.
"It's a matter of strategy. Plan to launch the Tata Nano is certainly there, but not now" Indonesian subsidiary's Director, Mr. Biswadev Sengupta told the website.
Mr Sengupta added that the company is currently focusing on increasing the dealer network to reach more people across Indonesia, as well speed up the delivery times of a customer's desired model. Currently, TMDI already has 16 dealers and Tata-certified workshops (TCW) in 60 points throughout the archipelago.
For the commercial segment, TMDI currently sells the Tata Super Ace, Tata Ace EX, Tata Xenon, Tata Prima heavy truck and the Tata LPT 913, and the passenger segment offerings are the Tata Safari Storme, Tata Aria and Tata Vista.
