Skoda will complete 5 years in the Chinese auto market this year and to celebrate this occasion they will introduce a limited edition Superb called the “Superb Edition V.”
The spy pics of this China-only variant show a Edition V badge on the lower right corner of the front grill. There would be additional chrome trimmings and a modified grill with a selection of sporty 16 inch alloy rims on offer. Some of the interior upholstery is expected to be different with the company of Edition V badges placed on several places like the door sill, headrest, etc.
The outside mirrors sport a black finish rather than being body colored.
No announcement has been made on the production aspects of this special variant. The Superb Edition V is likely to be launched in the next few months and like it is usually, come out in limited numbers.
For the Chinese market, the Superb comes with 1.4L, 1.8L and 2.0L TSI engine options. As per the sources, the Edition V will come with only a 1.4L powerhouse mated to a 7 speed DSG transmission setup.
Skoda is currently enjoying a 2% market share in the China and plans to take it to 3% by 2015.
Skoda India recently introduced a stripped-down Ambition variant for the Superb. Its been a while since we saw any special edition models from them for any of their carlines.
