The Fiat Palio Stile 1.3-Multijet is one of the finest hatchbacks that can be bought if you are after driving pleasure (If you are in need of some confusion trouble-free, economical car you can try choosing between the Ritz and the Swift in the Maruti stable).
The 75 bhp CRDI unit transforms the Palio into a pocket rocket. Darting through gaps in traffic and touching three figures on the highway is all in the day's work for this Fiat and is quite economical too, being a diesel.
The NVH, steering response and Italian styling (minus the dashboard) puts this car in my dream garage.
However, here's something I would love to try-
According to reports, the new 1.3 litre Multijet II engine with turbo compressor at 95 hp and 200 Nm, finds first application on the Fiat 500C.
The Multijet II will form the line-up along with the existing 75bhp engine. The new diesel engine complies with Euro 5 emission norms.
The Multijet breed of engines is arguably the best diesel engines in India in reach to the average buyer. The Multijet II must be delight to drive and Fiat should think of manufacturing it in India, and maybe incorporating it into all the upcoming models and existing models in the future.
The Multijet engine has made its mark on the Indian customer (Maruti, Tata and soon GM will use it) so a newer and more efficient engine should make it better for Fiat.
