Nissan Motor India exported its 300,000th car yesterday from Chennai's Ennore port. The milestone comes after a period of three years, since Nissan started exporting their vehicles from September 2010. The company exports vehicles to over 100 destinations that include Africa, Middle East and Europe.
The milestone car was a silver Nissan Sunny.
Nissan's lineup in India includes the Micra, Sunny, Evalia, Terrano, Teana, X-Trail and the 370Z. However, Renault-Nissan's Chennai plant manufactures only the Micra, Sunny, Evalia and the Terrano, and Nissan exports only the Micra and the Sunny.
Mr. Kenichiro Yomura, President, Nissan India Operations said -
I congratulate our employees at Nissan India on reaching the 300,000 vehicle export milestone. We couldn’t have achieved this milestone in such short period of time without their dedication and commitment. I would also like to thank the Ennore Port authorities for their supporting our export commitment. This milestone underscores our manufacturing capabilities at our world class facility here in Oragadam, near Chennai.
