Chevrolet Europe just unveiled the Electric version of Spark (sold as Beat in India) that will go on sale in a few European countries next year here at the Geneva Motor Show. The electric motor on board produces 130 hp and 540 Nm of torque. A new battery technology innovated by GM allows fast charging in just 20 minutes. On board, there are two reconfigurable LCD screens for the purpose of connectivity.
Thanks to a mountain of torque, the 0-100kph time of the Spark EV is under 8.5 seconds. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack rated at 20 kWh aided by active liquid cooling and heating system. Chevrolet explains the range of the Spark as "best in its class." The battery pack can be charged on both alternate current (AC) and direct current (DC).
DC charging permits 80% capacity charging in about 20 minutes. The battery pack can handle multiple DC fast charges everyday. AC charging meanwhile takes about 6-8 hours on a regular 230 V plug.
The dashboard is fitted with two seven-inch full-color LCD screens. A third display sits on the dashboard center stack and is the interface for infotainment, climate control and energy related data.
