Ford will soon launch a Thunder Edition of the EcoSport. Just days after the EcoSport Thunder Edition's first images, its first walkaround video from a dealership yard is has surfaced online.
As seen in the video, the Ford EcoSport Thunder Edition comes packed with a slew of cosmetic changes including a sportier looking dual tone paint scheme with black roof and black decals. Its grille, headlamp cluster, fog lamp bezels also get black treatment. Other exterior highlights include black ORVMs, unique 17-inch alloy wheels painted and spare wheel cover - both in black, faux air inlets and 'Thunder' branding right below the EcoSport badge on the tailgate. On the inside, it gets dual-tone treatment on seats, dashboard, hand rest and doors as well as contrast stitching on seats and steering wheel.
The Ford EcoSport Thunder Edition doesn't have any mechanical differences from the regular model. The latter is available a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine (123 PS/150 Nm), a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine (125 PS/170 Nm) and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine (100 PS/205 Nm). Below are the mechanical configurations available, and the special edition model should be offered in one or two of them:
- 1.5L petrol engine, 5-speed MT, FWD
- 1.5L petrol engine, 6-speed AT, FWD
- 1.0L petrol engine, 6-speed MT, FWD
- 1.5L diesel engine, 5-speed MT, FWD
After the EcoSport Thunder Edition, which will likely go on sale next month, Ford's next launch will likely be the pure electric Aspire sedan based on the longer Aspire sold internationally and co-developed with Mahindra. Expect this EV to hit the showrooms in the second half of the year.
