Force Motors is planning to strengthen their presence in the passenger car segment by expanding their product portfolio.
The manufacturer's Trax range of people carriers is aimed at commercial operators and the company entered the personal vehicle space with their Force One SUV which sits on a homegrown chassis but borrows body panels from the Chinese Foday Explorer III and the drivetrain from Daimler.
The Pune based commercial vehicle manufacturer has announced that they will add another passenger car to their portfolio shortly. The car will be an MPV which is based on the Mercedes Viano and it'll be manufactured under license from Daimler.
The test mule of the MPV had been recently spotted near Pune. The car is expected to be powered by the 2.2 litre diesel engine that powers the Force One and is good for 140 bhp. The transmission choice will be the 5-speed manual.
The MPV is expected to be priced above Rs. 10 lakhs but will come loaded with features to justify its price tag. The car is expected to be launched in the next financial year.
Apart from the MPV, Force Motors has also planned to launch two new variants of the Force One SUV. One variant will sit above the current trim possibly with 4x4 system while the other will be the 4X2 ABS. Force Motors aim to sell 5,000 SUVs in the next financial year.
In order to widen their presence across the country, Force Motors has announced that they will double their dealer network to 40 outlets by the end of March 2013.
