To launch in EMEA markets next year.
The Fiat Tipo (Fiat Egea for the EMEA region) has made its motorshow debut at the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show today. Fiat announced earlier that it will commence the market rollout of the Egea for Italian and Turkish markets this year, while the launch of the Tipo in EMEA regions is expected to start next year.
The Tipo, similar to the Egea, measures 4.5 meters in length, 2.64 meters in wheelbase, 1.78 meters in width and 1.48 meters in height, and comes with a 510 liter boot.
For the European market, the compact sedan will be powered by 1.3- and 1.6-liter MultiJet diesel engines, and 1.4-liter FIRE and 1.6-liter Etorq petrol engines. The 1.4-liter FIRE develops 95 hp and is paired to a 5-speed manual whereas the more powerful Etorq engine develops 110 hp with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Noteworthy features on the sedan include alloy wheels, automatic climate control, a touchscreen Fiat UConnect entertainment system with Bluetooth, steering mounted controls, and a raft of safety features which include ABS, EBD and airbags.
The Tofas plant in Bursa, Turkey, will manufacture the Egea/Tipo for 40 global markets. Aside from the sedan, a hatchback and estate derivative of the Tipo is expected to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next year.
