FCA India is launching two 'Abarth' products today, the Fiat Abarth Punto and the Fiat Avventura Powered by Abarth. The latter, based on the Punto's platform is billed as India's first performance CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle). It is priced at INR 9.95 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
Power for the Avventura Powered by Abarth comes from the same 1.4-liter T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine that does duty on the Abarth Punto. This 16v motor develops 140 hp at 5,500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque between 2,000-4,000 rpm, and is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Avventura Powered by Abarth claims 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, 0-1000 m in 31.8 seconds, with a fuel efficiency rating of 17.1 km/l. Like the Abarth Punto, it too gets disc brakes on all wheels, though its ground clearance is unaltered at 205 mm. The wheels are 16-inch 'Scorpion' alloys however.
On the outside, the Avventura Powered by Abarth does not get the contrast wing mirror caps, racing stripes or even the body decals seen on the Abarth Punto. Instead, the rear doors receive the 'Powered by Abarth' branding.
As the Avventura Powered by Abarth is offered in a single variant, it gets ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as standard. Other features are carried over from the Emotion variant.
